Dr. Charalampos Pappas from the Cluster of Excellence Living, Adaptive and Energy-autonomous Materials Systems (livMatS) at the University of Freiburg received the prestigious Carl Duisberg Memorial Award from the GDCh Working Group of German University Professors of Chemistry (ADUC). The award recognizes his work in organic systems chemistry, which takes phosphates beyond their traditional biological roles and integrates them into dynamic chemical reaction networks. The prize is endowed with 7,500 euros.
The award will be presented at the Chemistry Lecturers' Conference (CDT) from March 2 to 4, 2026. The CDT will take place at the University of Duisburg-Essen and will bring together around 350 chemists.
