A4S – Autonomous Actuators for Adaptive Architecture and Soft Robotics
My project aims to develop life-like, mutistimulus-responsive actuators capable of altering their shape according to changes in environmental conditions. Taking inspiration from biological systems that respond to different stimuli, such as humidity (pine cones), water (silver thistle), or light (sunflower), we plan to apply the actuators in architecture and soft robotics. The generation of such actuators will be accomplished by means of two-photon lithography and 3D printing (shape generation), and C,H insertion crosslinking (shape fixing).
