The application for the new round of the Freiburg Rising Stars Academy at the University of Freiburg has begun. The program started in 2020 with the goal of bringing together outstanding international early-career researchers with top-level scientists at the University of Freiburg. Once again, the livMatS cluster will participate in the program. Dr. Edoardo Milana, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rühe and Prof. Dr. Daniel Werz will be hosting Rising Stars in this round.
The Rising Stars will travel to Freiburg to attend the Rising Stars conference that offer them an opportunity to visit their hosts, attend scientific workshops, connect with their peers and explore the city of Freiburg. The so called Rising Stars Night concludes the conference. A jury of experts will select there the most promising research projects for the residency program, which covers expenses for travel and accommodation up to 5.000 Euro. The Rising Stars chosen for the residency program will spend up to 3 months with their hosts in Freiburg to work on research projects.
Dr. Edoardo Milana, a researcher from Rome, Italy, was among the group of scientists who came to Freiburg in the first round of the Rising Stars Academy 2021/22. “The Program really influenced my career path, because thanks to this experience, I was able to build up my own project and am now doing my post-doc at the University of Freiburg”, he says. In a video and article he and his host Dr. Viacheslav Slesarenko aswell as another Rising Star, María Belén Camarada, who collaborated with livMatS researcher Prof. Anna Fischer, share their experiences with the Academy. The Rising Stars chosen for the residency program will spend up to 3 months with their Host PIs in Freiburg to work on research projects.
