Project
Chemistry of Triboelectric Materials
Harvesting electrical energy from other energy forms is a well known concept that is already being intensively investigated. In my project, I will focus on the triboelectric effect, whereby mechanical energy (by bringing two materials in contact) is converted into electrical energy. Therefore, I will develop an experimental setup to measure the voltage and current between Fluoropor, a fluorinated porous polymer developed in our group, and the liquid alloy Galinstan (gallium, indium, tin). At the end of my PhD, I will present a demonstrator that can be implemented in daily life applications such as shoe soles or bicycle tires.
