I am currently working on a booster project to develop a low-voltage electrochemical actuator and create an energy-autonomous photo electrochemical actuator. Electrochemical actuators have great potential in cutting-edge applications such as smart switches, tactile/braille displays, biomimetic devices, wearable skeletons and soft robotics. Using 2D nanomaterials such as graphene and MXene, we can create electrodes with higher specific capacitance, excellent mechanical strength, reduced weight, and lower actuation voltage. In this project, we optimize electrochemical actuators based on 2D materials and explore various hybrid structures and approaches to provide sufficient output voltage and current for their operation.
