Girls' Day is a nationwide career and study orientation day for girls, where they can learn about professions and fields of study in which the proportion of women is less than 40 percent. On this year's Girls' Day on April 27, 2023, the University of Freiburg will give 160 female students the opportunity to explore topics and professions related to crafts, technology and the natural sciences.
livMatS Junior Research Group Leader and Principal Investigator Dr. Céline Calvino will offer a workshop for female students from 10th grade on the Girls' Day 2023. In her workshop, "From common polymers to smart materials", they will prepare different types of polymer materials in the lab and will anlayze them qualitatively. Thus, the students will understand the relationship between structure and properties of polymer materials, and they will acquire enough background knowledge to produce so-called smart materials that can react to their environment.
Registration for the workshop in English is open until April 20, 2023.
